As per Village Law 3-302(1) the official year of a village begins at noon on the first Monday of the month following a village election month. Our village elections are held in March every two years unless a special election is called for on the off years. Therefore, it is common practice for villages to hold an annual organizational meeting the first Monday of April each year. This year’s date will be Monday, April 6, at 7:00pm at the Elmira Heights Village Hall followed by our regular board meeting for April including the monthly Urban Renewal meeting.
Our meetings are open to the public. All Village of Elmira Heights residents are welcome to come. The Village Board is open to hear concerns and comments about the Village. There will be a public section of the meeting where residents may voice a concern or comment. Said concerns or comments must be directed to the whole board and not an individual board member. The Village Board is not required to give an immediate answer if more time is needed to research the concern. If an answer is available at the time, the Board will be glad to give that out.
Monthly board meetings will resume to the regular schedule of the first Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm unless it falls on a holiday and is rescheduled to the following Tuesday.
